Ficus is the species most worth choosing if you specifically want a bonsai that lives permanently indoors — it tolerates centrally-heated homes, lower light and an occasional missed watering better than any other species we stock. The trade-off is that it wants to stay indoors; moving a ficus outdoors and back in through the seasons stresses it more than leaving it be.
