Fukien Tea (Carmona microphylla, also sold as Philippine Tea Tree) is a true indoor bonsai with small, glossy dark leaves and tiny white flowers that can appear several times a year. It is a little fussier than ficus: it wants steady warmth, dislikes cold draughts and radiators alike, and should never dry out completely. Water thoroughly when the surface is only just damp. See our indoor bonsai guide for how it compares with ficus and Chinese Elm.
